JOB SUMMARY:
The Retail Store Manager is a leader with retail experience and a passion for horses. The Manager fosters connection with our internal team and our surrounding equestrian community while leading efforts to prioritize the customer experience, build our customer base, drive sales, and ensure customer loyalty and repeat business. The Manager will also manage budgets, oversee inventory levels, and analyze merchandising reports to optimize overall sales and margins.


DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Store Operations:
  • Grow store sales through excellence in operations, visual merchandising, and top-level selling.
  • Develop strong interdepartmental partnerships with Merchandising, Marketing, Customer Service, Fulfillment, and Human Resources.
  • Track, analyze, and communicate business results and trends to both the Leadership Team and the Retail Team.
  • Manage store budgets, including expense control, staffing, and sales forecasts.
  • Develop a pipeline of talent within the local community
Inventory Management:
  • Ensure optimal in-stock levels by setting and maintaining replenishment minimums and maximums.
  • Oversee deliveries of products and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Utilize data to manage inventory turnover and reduce stockouts and overstock situations.
Leadership of Associates:
  • Direct the daily work of Retail Store Associates and other direct reports.
  • Create an environment of learning through consistent feedback related to selling, product knowledge, and customer experience.
  • Ensure associates are meeting performance goals, offer feedback, and develop action plans for learning and improving.
  • Develop a “one team, one goal” mindset.
  • Serve as a role model for the company by exemplifying and upholding the company's values, mission, and standards in all interactions and decisions.
  • Ensure compliance of all company policies and procedures.
Merchandising:
  • Develop creative visual merchandising displays to optimize sales.
  • Analyze merchandising reports to understand how product performance influences overall sales and margins.
  • Utilize data to inform store design and product placement.
Community & Customer Service:
  • Build external partnerships and community connections that bring our retail experience to new segments of the equestrian community.
  • Plan and execute special events to attract new customers and build new community connections.
  • Foster our GIVE selling experience: (G) Greeting, (I) Investigate, (V) Add Value, (E) Extra Mile.
  • Develop solutions to resolve client and team member questions and concerns.
  • Support offsite special events which may include but not be limited to the All-American Quarter Horse Congress, Kentucky 3-Day, etc.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; ability to foster connections with internal and external partners.
  • Ability to motivate staff to maximize sales.
  • Detail-oriented and organized.
  • Ability to multi-task, problem solve, and respond to quickly changing environments.
  • Proficiency in managing budgets and financial planning.
  • Proficiency in analyzing sales data and merchandising reports.
  • Proficiency in technology, including the use of POS systems, retail management software, and other digital tools to streamline operations and enhance customer experience.
  • Strong equestrian and equine product knowledge.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Retail management experience with demonstrated ability to train employees and be an effective salesperson.
  • A strong track record of attracting, coaching, mentoring, developing, and retaining a high performing team.
  • Equestrian experience, preferably including multiple riding disciplines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Physical Demands:
  • Standing and walking for duration of shift.
  • Frequent reaching, bending, and twisting – below waist and above shoulders.
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling of up to 30 pounds; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling between 30-50 pounds.
  • Frequent use of a computer.
Work Environment:
  • Noise level: Moderate
  • Temperature: between 60-70 degrees, sometimes warmer or colder; occasional outdoor assignments
  • Environment: Retail store environment, exposure to dirt, dust and horse and other animal hair
  • Pace of Job: Varies by season, can be very fast-paced with frequent interruptions
