About the Role
The Distribution Center Department Manager — Outbound Operations is responsible for leading all outbound distribution activities, including order fulfillment, packing, loading, and shipping operations.
This role combines operational leadership with hands-on team development. You’ll drive efficiency, accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement while creating a positive, safety-focused environment where employees can succeed and grow.
You’ll also play a key role in supporting operational improvements, process optimization, and system enhancements as Schneider continues evolving its distribution capabilities.

What You’ll Do
Lead & Develop the Team
  • Inspire, coach, and develop outbound team members through clear communication, accountability, and recognition.
  • Foster a collaborative, respectful, and performance-driven culture.
  • Support onboarding, training, employee development, and performance management initiatives.
Drive Operational Excellence
  • Oversee daily outbound operations to ensure orders are shipped accurately, safely, and on time.
  • Monitor workflow, staffing, productivity, and shipping priorities throughout the shift.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and implement solutions that improve throughput and efficiency.
Improve Processes & Performance
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), including productivity, accuracy, and fulfillment performance.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Support process standardization and workflow optimization across outbound operations.
Champion Safety & Quality
  • Promote and enforce a strong culture of workplace safety and operational compliance.
  • Ensure high standards for product handling, packaging quality, and shipment accuracy.
  • Lead by example with a visible, floor-focused leadership style.
Support Organizational Change
  • Help teams navigate evolving systems, technologies, and operational initiatives with clarity and consistency.
  • Encourage adaptability, problem-solving, and continuous learning across the department.

What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in a warehouse, distribution, fulfillment, or logistics environment.
  • Proven ability to lead teams in fast-paced operational settings.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience managing staffing, training, employee development, and performance accountability.
  • Ability to interpret operational metrics and use data to drive improvements.
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on leadership capacity within the operation.
  • Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS), RF scanners, and shipping platforms.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, quality, and operational excellence.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading teams through operational change or system implementations.
  • Background in continuous improvement or process optimization initiatives.
  • Multi-shift or high-volume fulfillment experience preferred.
